Edo State Special Security Squad conducts operation across senatorial districts to combat cultism and kidnapping

In a decisive show of force against criminal elements, Edo State's Special Security Squad has launched a major operation targeting cult leaders and kidnappers across Edo Central and Edo North Senatorial Districts. This strategic initiative, dubbed 'Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists', demonstrates Governor Monday Okpebholo's unwavering commitment to securing the state's sovereignty.

Strategic Security Operations Across Key Regions

The operation, reminiscent of recent successful security initiatives in Abuja, covered vital areas including the bustling Ojuromi Modern Market in Uromi, Ekpoma, Irrua, and surrounding communities in Edo Central. The northern operation extended to Warake, Iyeki Road, Angle 90, and the Auchi Polytechnic campus.

Protecting Electoral Integrity

Squad Coordinator Ameloemen Idemudia Noah issued a stern warning to criminal elements plotting to disrupt the upcoming August 16, 2025, Senatorial and House of Representatives bye-elections. This proactive stance mirrors recent efforts to protect democratic institutions across Nigeria.

"We have credible intelligence about cultists mobilizing to cause chaos during and after the elections. Let it be known - we will respond decisively. This is about safeguarding Edo people," Noah declared.

Community Safety and Institutional Cooperation

The operation's success builds on Edo State's proven track record of coordinated public safety initiatives. The squad's engagement with Auchi Polytechnic's Chief Security Officer demonstrates the administration's commitment to institutional collaboration in maintaining peace and order.

Dr. Angela Egele, Director of Public Relations at Auchi Polytechnic, reinforced this commitment by debunking false reports of unrest, highlighting the administration's transparency in security matters.
