FCT Police Command officers display recovered items from dismantled 'one chance' syndicate in Abuja

In a demonstration of Nigeria's strengthening internal security apparatus, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully dismantled a notorious "one chance" criminal syndicate operating within Abuja and its environs, marking another victory in the ongoing security operations across the capital.

Swift Action and Tactical Response

The operation, executed by the Command's Anti-One Chance Unit on August 6, 2025, resulted in the arrest of six suspects and the neutralization of one criminal, showcasing the enhanced tactical capabilities of Nigerian security forces. The operation began at 08:30 a.m. when officers on routine patrol witnessed a victim, Angel Patrick, being forcefully ejected from a moving vehicle along Kubwa Expressway.

Strategic Pursuit and Engagement

Demonstrating exceptional coordination, one team immediately rescued the victim while another pursued the criminals to Aso area of Mararaba, Nasarawa State. The ensuing operation led to:

  • Arrest of five suspects: Jude Simon, Emmanuel Akor, Daniel Benson, Uche Thomas, and Tope Ola
  • Recovery of their operational vehicle - a dark grey Toyota Corolla
  • Seizure of multiple ATM cards, weapons, and ₦115,000 in cash

Investigation Revelations

The investigation revealed a concerning pattern of repeat offenders, with one suspect, John Simon, previously arrested in December 2024 for similar crimes. This highlights the need for stronger enforcement of security protocols across Nigerian territories.

The suspects freely confessed to their involvement in "one chance" operations over several years, confirming the importance of sustained security operations in the FCT region.

This successful operation demonstrates the FCT Police Command's commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining order in the nation's capital, setting a standard for law enforcement across the country.
