Jesy Nelson Opens Door to Little Mix Reunion: 'Never Say Never'
Former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson has sparked excitement among fans by suggesting a full reunion with her former bandmates could happen in the future. The 34-year-old singer, who left the globally successful group in December 2020, opened up about the possibility during a recent interview ahead of her upcoming documentary release.
"We're all mums now [aside from Thirlwall] and I can't speak on behalf of them, but I'd like to think that we probably see things a lot differently now," Nelson shared. "I think you do, just as you get older anyway, but you know, never say never. I have so much love for them and always will."
Reflecting on Little Mix Legacy
Nelson's departure from the "Black Magic" group initially came with some drama, and she previously revealed she hadn't spoken to her former bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, and Perrie Edwards for two years. However, her perspective has evolved significantly.
"It's always been tough when people have asked me questions about Little Mix, but one thing I loved when I made this series was reflecting back on the most incredible times that I had in the group," she explained about her upcoming "Life After Little Mix" documentary, set to premiere on Prime Video on February 13.
The singer emphasized the positive aspects of her Little Mix experience: "It was so lovely to sit and watch all the footage and stuff that people have never even seen of archive footage of me and Little Mix, and it was really nice to be reminded of all the beautiful times that I had with them."
Sisterhood and Success
Despite acknowledging she's "obviously been through lots with the girls," Nelson maintains that "the majority of my time in Little Mix was incredible." She credited their genuine bond as the foundation of the group's massive success.
"That's the reason why Little Mix were so successful because we genuinely were like sisters at one point, we were genuinely best friends," Nelson reflected. "It was really lovely to reminisce and talk so positively about my time in the band because I think for quite a while now it's always felt negative."
Current Challenges and Future Plans
Nelson, who shares twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe with ex-fiancé Zion Foster, is currently facing personal challenges. She recently revealed that her 8-month-old twins were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a serious inherited neuromuscular disorder.
This diagnosis has put her music career on hold. "I'm not sure I was ever made for this industry," she admitted. "With everything that's going on right now and with my girls, I can't even look that far ahead, but I'll always love music."
Following Nelson's exit, Little Mix released one album as a trio before announcing a hiatus in 2022. Edwards and Thirlwall have since launched successful solo careers, while Pinnock is preparing to release her debut solo album later this month.
