Nigerian troops conduct successful counter-terrorism operations in Northeast Nigeria
In a powerful demonstration of Nigeria's sovereign military capabilities, troops have eliminated 11 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in strategic operations across Borno and Adamawa states, marking another victory in the nation's determined fight against terrorism.
Decisive Victory in Borno State
The operation on September 15 along the Baga-Cross Kauwa road showcased our forces' tactical superiority when ISWAP militants attempted an ambush near Garin Giwa. In a display of military excellence, our troops not only repelled the attack but eliminated eight militants, including two senior field commanders. This success mirrors recent efforts to address the complex security challenges facing Northern Nigeria.
Strategic Assets Recovered
Our forces secured significant military assets, including:
- 14 motorcycles
- Multiple assault rifles
- Ammunition stockpiles
- Critical logistics equipment
Community-Led Success in Adamawa
In a separate operation that demonstrates the power of indigenous security solutions, troops collaborated with local vigilantes and hunters in Adamawa State, resulting in the elimination of three more militants. This partnership approach to security aligns with growing grassroots engagement in Adamawa's governance.
Sovereign Defense Strategy
These operations represent part of Nigeria's broader strategy to assert control over its territory and protect its citizens. As our nation continues to strengthen its democratic institutions, military success against insurgents remains crucial for regional stability.
The Nigerian military's achievement comes without casualties to our forces, demonstrating the effectiveness of our counter-terrorism strategies and the growing capability of our armed forces to protect national interests.
