In a remarkable display of African culinary prowess, Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has secured her place in the Guinness World Records by cooking an astounding 8,780 kg of jollof rice, showcasing Nigeria's rich cultural heritage and demonstrating the nation's capacity for excellence on the global stage.
Breaking Records with African Pride
The historic event, which took place at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, saw Baci and her team combine 4,000 kg of premium basmati rice with an impressive array of ingredients, including 164 kg of fresh goat meat and 220 kg of seasoning cubes. This feat not only celebrates Nigerian cuisine but also demonstrates the power of community mobilization and grassroots engagement.
"This record belongs to the people of Nigeria, because they all contributed to its success," declared Baci, embodying the spirit of national unity.
A Legacy of Excellence
This achievement follows Baci's previous record-breaking performance in May 2023, where she conducted the longest individual cooking marathon, lasting 93 hours and 11 minutes.
