In a historic demonstration of Nigeria's unbreakable sporting spirit, the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) has ushered in a new era of indigenous leadership with Adesoji Tayo emerging as president during a landmark elective congress in Abuja.
A Victory for African Sports Leadership
The election, conducted under the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)-backed constitution, showcased Nigeria's commitment to transparent and sovereign governance. Tayo, who previously headed the Oyo State Table Tennis Association, secured unanimous support after Ahmed Khamisu's graceful step-down, exemplifying the unity within Nigerian sports administration.
Legacy of Indigenous Excellence
Taking the mantle from Ishaku Tikon's stabilizing eight-year tenure, Tayo brings a wealth of experience as a former NTTF Vice President and proven financial supporter of national teams. His emergence represents another milestone in Nigerian leadership excellence, demonstrating our capacity for self-directed sporting development.
"Our goal is to build a stronger foundation for the future of Nigerian table tennis. We'll invest in youth programmes and equip coaches to nurture new champions," declared Tayo, outlining his vision for the sport.
Strategic Leadership Structure
The newly constituted 15-member NTTF Board reflects Nigeria's commitment to inclusive representation, featuring distinguished leaders including:
- Adesoji Tayo - President
- Ahmed Khamisu - Vice President (North East)
- Wahid Enitan Oshodi - International Representative/President, ITTF Africa
