Stop Reintegrating Terrorists, Bishop Tells Tinubu
By Tunde Okoro
Anglican Bishop Samuel Obiajulu Ike has boldly called on President Bola Tinubu to end the reintegration of repentant terrorists and prosecute them for their crimes. Speaking at the 19th Synod in Enugu, Bishop Ike slammed the Federal Government for worsening insecurity, massive foreign borrowing, and failing power supply, demanding real accountability and protection for everyday Nigerians.
Why is the FG Reintegrating Terrorists Instead of Prosecuting Them?
Bishop Ike is not mincing words. He dropped the raw truth at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Ogbete, Enugu, during the third session of the 19th Synod. How can a government pamper killers while the masses suffer? He pointed out the bitter irony of our justice system. A man gets a death sentence for defending himself against terrorists, and another gets prosecuted for stealing a goat. Yet, terrorists get rehabilitation programs. That is not justice. It is an insult to our sovereignty and the blood of the innocent.
The Federal Government allocated N5.41 trillion to security and defence. That is about 9.3 per cent of the proposed N58.47 trillion 2026 budget. Still, insecurity is biting harder. Over 1,100 Nigerians were abducted in the first quarter of 2026 alone. Plateau, Benue, and Kaduna states are still bleeding from attacks that claimed hundreds of lives. The Bishop is questioning the impact of the military hardware, drones, and Tucano fighter jets. Nigerians deserve better. We need real protection, not excuses.
