ABU Student Wins Car at MTN Campus Tour, Proving Naija Youth Got Talent
Zaria just witnessed something special. A 400-level Chemistry student from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Ezekiel Oluwatobi Daniel, drove off with a brand-new car at the MTN Live It 100 On Campus Tour. And trust me, this wasn't just any event. It was three days of pure energy, from Wednesday, August 26 to Friday, August 28, 2026, and Ezekiel became the third student to win big since this tour kicked off.
This is the kind of win that makes you believe in your own hustle. The ABU stop was the third leg of MTN Nigeria's seven-campus tour, and it brought everything: entertainment, digital vibes, entrepreneurship, and real student engagement. Before Zaria, the tour had already set Delta State University (DELSU) and Ekiti State University (EKSU) on fire, with four more institutions still to come.
What Did the ABU Students Win?
Ezekiel wasn't the only one smiling. Four other ABU students also took home prizes:
- Iyiola Oyeleke, a 100-level Mass Communication student, won a laptop.
- Victoria Adeleke, a 400-level English and Literature Studies student, came second and got a refrigerator.
- Edeh Godswill Ogbada, a 100-level Language Arts student, placed third and also won a refrigerator.
- Moses John, a 200-level Quantity Survey student, came fourth and received a microwave.
How Did the Winner React?
Ezekiel could barely contain his joy. Speaking after the win, he said:
“Everything is happening like a dream to me right now because I didn't believe I was going to win. I feel good. I'm very happy. It just feels like a dream right now. I want to say thank you to MTN for this great opportunity.”That's the energy we love to see. A young Nigerian student, focused on his studies, and now he's got a car to show for it.
Why MTN Is Investing in Campus Life
This isn't just about giving away prizes. Temilolu Salako, Senior Manager of Segment Marketing at MTN Nigeria, made it clear that the Live It 100 initiative is about something bigger.
“Live It 100 is about encouraging young people to bring their best to whatever they choose to pursue. Whether it is academics, entrepreneurship, entertainment or their personal passions, we want them to approach it with confidence, commitment and the belief that they can achieve more,”Salako said. The tour is designed to go beyond entertainment. It's about giving students real opportunities to learn, explore digital experiences, and showcase their entrepreneurial ventures. The activation featured a Digital Game Village with video and board games, immersive photo experiences, product demonstrations, device displays, and an SME showcase. That's how you build a future.
Students Speak: Fair Play and Good Vibes
The transparency of the process didn't go unnoticed. Dennis Ukume, Public Relations Officer of the Postgraduate Representative Council at ABU, called it one of the university's standout activities in recent years.
“What impressed me most was the fairness and openness of the process, which gave students confidence that everyone had an equal opportunity to participate and win. I believe initiatives like this can go a long way towards encouraging students, boosting their confidence and creating memorable campus experiences,”he said.
Students also appreciated the mix of fun and learning. Amira Rukayya Bashir said the programme gave students a chance to relax while learning more about MTN's services, and Ezinne Odumegwu noted that the activation came at the perfect time, when students needed a break from academic stress.
What's Next for the Live It 100 Tour?
The Live It 100 On Campus Tour is far from over. MTN is expanding its engagement with young Nigerians through entertainment, digital experiences, and entrepreneurship-focused activities, with more institutions on the list. This is the kind of initiative that reminds us that when African companies invest in African youth, we all win.
So, to every student out there: keep pushing, keep believing, and stay ready. The next car could be yours.
